Breakpoint UE5

Personal Project

Narrative:

Unveiling the McLaren P1 in an abandoned architectural setting, it roars to life and unleashes its true power in the forest.

Goal:

I wanted to explore Unreal Engine 5 to craft a short car animation. I used C4D to create the architecture at the start of the animation. I rigged and weighted the car in C4D. I used UE5 for constructing the scene and implementing lighting/texturing.I did the compositing and color grading in After Effects and Premiere Pro.

Process:

It was fun working in Unreal Engine 5 and learning the process of preparing assets in Cinema 4D, as well as texturing, lighting, and scene creation in Unreal Engine 5. It was a great challenge.

Storyboard:

From the references I collected of the environment and the kind of lighting I am aiming for, I started to create a storyboard to help me structure the animation.

Cinema 4D :

I did a lot of research on the workflow from Cinema 4D to Unreal Engine 5. I did all the preparation for modeling the buildings and rigging the car in Cinema 4D, ready to import into Unreal Engine 5.

Unreal Engine 5:

I"I used Unreal Engine 5 for scene building, animating the car, texturing the car, and lighting. The process of importing assets from Cinema 4D to Unreal was very smooth and didn't have any errors. I used Blueprint to rig the car and the Megascans library to help me build the forest scene. Unreal Engine was perfect for this project, as it would have been very difficult to do this in Cinema 4D."

After Effects:

From the export from Unreal Engine to After Effects, I did not need to do a lot of grading. I made general touches like adding glows and some color corrections.
